Arroyabe – Basque conservas from Bermeo since 1898

Arroyabe has been making fish conservas for more than 125 years. Founded by Rufino Arroyabe in 1898, the family producer is based in Bermeo on Spain’s Basque coast – a fishing town with a long tradition closely tied to the Bay of Biscay.

Bonito del Norte is at the heart of Arroyabe’s range. Caught in the Bay of Biscay during the summer using traditional pole-and-line and hook fishing, this prized albacore tuna is known for its delicate flavour and tender texture. The range also draws on other classics of the Cantabrian coast, including anchovies, tuna and seafood, prepared in olive oil, escabeche and other traditional styles.

Production remains in Arroyabe’s own facilities in Bermeo, combining modern technology with techniques passed down through generations. Particular attention is given to the quality and selection of the fish, while the company’s MSC Chain of Custody certification reflects a longstanding focus on traceability and more responsible fishing.
