Fish Liver

Rich, delicate and unexpectedly refined.

Fish liver is one of the more distinctive corners of the conserva tradition. From creamy cod liver to delicately smoked monkfish liver, these tins offer deep flavour and an exceptionally soft, rich texture. Selected from thoughtful producers, they reward simple serving and a little contrast.

Spread onto toasted bread, serve with boiled potatoes or pair with pickles, lemon and fresh herbs to balance the richness. A small tin goes a long way, making fish liver particularly well suited to sharing as part of an aperitivo.

Vanliga frågor

  • Fish liver is prepared and preserved much like other seafood conservas. Different species have their own character: cod liver is particularly creamy and rich, while monkfish liver has a delicate flavour and soft texture that can be complemented by smoking or seasoning.
  • Both have a soft, rich texture, but their flavour and preparation differ. Cod liver is known for its creamy richness, while monkfish liver tends to be more delicate in flavour. Smoking, seasoning and the preserving liquid also influence the final character of each product.
  • Keep it simple. Serve fish liver on toasted sourdough or rye bread, with boiled potatoes or as part of an aperitivo. Lemon, pickled vegetables, fresh herbs and other bright or acidic accompaniments provide a useful contrast to its rich texture.
  • Follow the product label. Transfer leftovers with their preserving liquid to a covered container, refrigerate promptly, and consume within the period stated by the producer. Store unopened tins in a cool, dry place.
