Conserveira do Arade – Portuguese sardines from the Algarve
Conserveira do Arade is an artisanal cannery in the Algarve, Portugal, and the producer behind the two brands Papa Anzóis and Saboreal.
Saboreal focuses mainly on flavourful fish spreads and ready-to-eat conservas, while Papa Anzóis is the cannery’s premium line of whole and filleted tinned fish, including sardines, mackerel, and tuna.
What makes Papa Anzóis especially distinctive is its production method: the fish is not steamed before canning, but slowly dehydrated instead. This helps create a softer, juicier texture while preserving the natural character of the fish.
